The Vice President of the U.S. Business Roundtable, Michael Steel, welcomed a delegation of McCain Fellows for a high-level briefing on the Roundtable’s mission and work. During the session, Steel outlined the Roundtable’s role as a leading voice of the American business community, representing more than 200 CEOs from every sector of the U.S. economy. He highlighted how the Roundtable advances pro-growth policies, fosters innovation, and strengthens U.S. competitiveness in global markets.

As part of the discussion, Abdirashid Ibrahim, a McCain Fellow, spotlighted the unique opportunities Somaliland offers in trade and investment. He emphasized Somaliland’s potential in technology, agriculture, fisheries, and extractives, as well as the strategic role of the Berbera Corridor and Economic Zone as a logistics hub linking Africa to global markets.
This exchange reflects both the Roundtable’s commitment to fostering dialogue with global leaders and the importance of connecting emerging economies like Somaliland to U.S. business networks. It also provided the Fellows with valuable insights into the intersection of business and policy, and how trade partnerships can drive shared prosperity.
