It is with profound gratitude and reflection that I bid farewell to His Excellency President Muse Biihi Abdi as he concludes his tenure as the 5th President of the Republic of Somaliland. Serving under his leadership for six years and seven months as Director-General across various ministries has been both a privilege and a distinct honor. His trust in my abilities and unwavering commitment to the nation have left an indelible mark on my life and career.
In April 2018, I received an unexpected yet humbling call from the President to serve in public office. This opportunity, formalized in the gazette on April 23, 2018, was not something I pursued through traditional channels or sought through campaigns. Instead, it was a direct expression of trust from the highest office in the Republic of Somaliland. This marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey—one dedicated to contributing to the growth and governance of our beloved nation.
Under President Muse Biihi Abdi’s leadership, I was entrusted with key roles, starting at the Ministry of Planning & National Development, later at the Ministry of Employment, Social Affairs, and Family, and most recently at the Ministry of Trade and Tourism. In each capacity, I had the privilege of working on transformative programs, groundbreaking policies, and impactful legislative developments. These efforts, guided by the President’s vision, were instrumental in advancing Somaliland’s socio-economic development and strengthening its governance framework.
President Muse Biihi Abdi’s leadership has been defined by resilience, dedication, and an unyielding commitment to the principles of democracy. His tenure was marked by significant strides toward securing international recognition for the Republic of Somaliland, a goal deeply cherished by all citizens. Through his steadfast leadership, he fostered a spirit of unity and solidarity, inspiring the nation to remain resolute in its aspirations.
As President Muse Biihi Abdi prepares to peacefully transfer power to the 6th President of the Republic of Somaliland, I join the nation in celebrating his legacy. His tenure exemplifies a profound dedication to service, a commitment to progress, and an unwavering belief in the potential of our nation. His trust in me to serve in key public offices remains one of the greatest honors of my life, and I will forever cherish the opportunities to contribute to his vision for Somaliland.
